Garry holds a PhD from the Distributed Systems Group (DSG), University of Portsmouth, UK. Garry’s research interests are in the field of distributed systems middleware, with a particular focus on resource management, cluster and Grid infrastructures, Java message passing environments and complex systems.

Garry is currently employed by the Centre for Advanced Computing and Emerging Technologies (ACET), University of Reading to work on the SORMA project.

SORMA deals with the development of methods and tools for an efficient market-based allocation of resources, through a self-organising resource management system, using market-driven models supported by extensions for Grid infrastructures. Topics addressed include open Grid markets, economics-driven Grid middleware, and intelligent tools. Brokerage of resources over the Grid will benefit consumers, resource owners, outsourcing providers, and new intermediaries.

Garry is an editor for the Grid Computing Section of IEEE Distributed Systems Online magazine and a visiting fellow at the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, University of Portsmouth.
